The community of Salina and, in particular, that of Malfa, loses an extraordinary figure: Clara Rametta, a passionate mayor of her second mandate, woman and tireless entrepreneur, who with courage and vision has been able to give a change to the future of her land.
Clara was 75 years old and was for everyone the “lady of tourism” in Salina and in the Aeolian Islands. With her husband Michele Caruso, in 1988 he created the “Signum”, a structure that in a short time became a point of reference for the reception in the archipelago and which today is successfully carried out by the children. A project born from love for the island, transformed into a symbol of excellence and hospitality.
Its administrative action was characterized by a strong sensitivity for the environment and for sustainable development. From electric cars to photovoltaics, from the project of the new port to the creation of cultural spaces and a shuttle bus for citizens, Clara was for Malfa the spokesperson for an ecological and cultural growth that has left concrete and long -lasting signs. But Clara was not only a capable administrator: she was a precious friend, an irreplaceable guide, a woman who knew how to combine firmness and sweetness, vision and pragmatism.
Each project made and every dream shared with her remain as a living legacy of her love for the community.
