With the oath to Ars, the councilor for agriculture and vice president of the Region Luca Sammartino officially entered the full of his functions in the Sicilian regional government led by Renato Schifani. “Let’s start from the priorities of the Schifani government – said the commissioner – carried out in an extraordinary way by Professor Barbagallo, whom I thank for the work and dedication he has made during his position. We start from what the Sicilians today expect, that is, the commitment to deal with the water emergency thanks to the planning put in place by my predecessor, which must be carried on both in western and eastern Sicily. The goal is to reduce water losses but, above all, to best support investments in agriculture. We also start from the great emergencies that European politics is determining in the Sicilian fishing sector ».
Among the objectives, explains a note, the enhancement of the food and wine excellence of the island. «We are and we will be at the side of all the producers who want to bring the brand of Sicily to the tables: every meal, every Sicilian raw material represents the identity, roots and history of this extraordinary region. The government is committed to introducing new economies to ensure that our companies can compete more and more in international markets ». Sammartino therefore illustrated “the continuity strategy” with its predecessor: “The regional government already in the next few hours will be engaged on the reforms that are so expected by the organizations of the producers and unions, such as that of the forestry sector and that of the reclamation consortia”.
