The mayor Franz Caruso took part this morning, in Piazza XV MARCH, at the presentation of the new Busitalia fleet, in the presence of the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport and Vice -premier Matteo Salvini.
In his speech, the first citizen addressed two precise requests to the Minister and the top of Busitalia: to establish a stable connection between Cosenza and the Calabrian airports, in particular that of Lamezia Terme, and to provide a direct service with Salerno, already served from the high speed, pending the construction of the section in Calabria.
“Cosenza has an unavoidable need: connecting the city to its reference airport – said Caruso -. In the past, the “on the fly” service had given good results, but today there is no stable public transport system that responds to this need ».
The mayor stressed that the new buses, at low and more comfortable, can encourage the use of public transport and encourage the transition to a Smart City. He also recalled the vastness of the Province of Cosenza and the difficulties related to infrastructure deficiency, reiterating the importance of efficient services both within the territory and towards the rest of the country.
At the end of the meeting, Caruso entertained himself with Salvini, who guaranteed attention to advanced requests and the desire to start an operational phase shortly.
