The Prefect of Messina, Cosima Di Stani, has appointed an investigative commission to verify the possible presence of mafia infiltration or conditioning within the municipality of Mazzarrà Sant’Andrea.
The decision, adopted by prefectural decree delegated by the Minister of the Interior, is based on article 143 of the Consolidated Law on Local Authorities.
The Commission is made up of the vice prefect Carmelo Musolino, lieutenant colonel Vincenzo Letizia, section head of the Anti-Mafia Investigation Directorate of Messina, and Dr. Maria Cacciola, economic-financial official of the Prefecture. The three members will be able to count on the support of police force personnel.
The inspection activity will have an initial duration of three months, extendable for another three, and will serve to verify any links between the municipal administration and organized crime.
