Within Calabria, which has slowly begun to walk along its life path, in these first days dated 2026, shy footprints can be seen. They are emotional traces mixed with tears that are concentrated in petrol stations where one remains in line for the first “taxed” full tank. In this land, the realignment of excise duties on fuel cannot be considered a simple technical measure or a budget item. This is yet another blow to the social fabric of a region that coexists with the lowest incomes in Italy and with a model of forced mobility, where the car can never be considered a choice but is a necessity.
