Messina writes a new, important page in the history of youth hockey. Training Under 14 of the SSD UniMe has achieved an extraordinary bronze medal in the Finals of the 2025/2026 Italian Indoor Hockey Championship, played last weekend at the prestigious PalaBonomi in Castello d’Agogna.
Third place overall represents an achievement of international prestige for the hockey sector of the university club, confirming constant technical and corporate growth. The young grey-blues demonstrated character and compactness, giving way only to the two battleships that competed for the championship: HC Bondeno Ferrara and the new Italian champions SH Paolo Bonomi Pavia.
The path to the podium
The path of the SSD UniMe has been clear and convincing. The victories obtained against the CUS Pisawhich guaranteed access to the semi-finals, and success in the “final” against Juvenilia Oristano sports club. In this last match, the Messina team secured the result, putting a medal around their neck that smells of the future. “I’m proud of the boys”the technician declared enthusiastically Giacomo Spignolo. “They demonstrated that our strength is the unity of the group, not the individual. This result was built thanks to the commitment to training and the excellent facilities of PalaNebiolo made available by SSD UniMe”.
Future prospects
The value of the feat is evident considering that for many of the protagonists it was their absolute debut in a national category final. The bronze medal now serves as a springboard for the grass season: the championship will start again in March and the SSD UniMe presents itself at the starting blocks with the awareness of being able to play a leading role.
