Go ahead slowly. Or, to put it with the secretary of the Messina Democratic Party, Armando Hyerace: “seriousness and patience”. The broad or progressive camp, in short the centre-left, is in no hurry to find a candidate for mayor. Or rather, he says he is in no hurry and prefers the confrontation to the tight deadlines imposed by the resigning Federico Basile first and by the choice already made by the Centre-right, with Marcello Scurria, then. Yesterday the topic ended up at the center of the coalition’s regional table, which had all the upcoming administrative elections on the agenda, with an inevitable focus, however, on the Messina capital.
«It was then decided to adjourn the work to Monday, in order to continue the investigation with the territories involved and find the broadest possible synthesis to build the alternative to the Centre-Right», the text of the press release from the Sicilian Democratic Party.

In dialogue with the “Gazzetta”, Hyerace still seems to want to launch some messages, also with respect to the jumble of names that have come out in recent days: «We have not put forward names out of respect for a shared path, we do not want to fuel impromptu internal competitions. The Democratic Party takes its decisions in the democratic locations provided for by the statute, signature collections and spontaneous initiatives cannot replace these locations nor legitimize a candidacy.” Any reference to the pro Alessandro Russo petition does not appear to be coincidental. But Hyerace also adds that “the candidacy for mayor cannot be a popularity contest nor the result of media dynamics”, with the aim of “identifying a credible personality, capable of marking a clear discontinuity with the power system that has governed the city in recent years”, therefore “not affirming a name to guarantee a status quo”.
The Dem secretary does not name names, but his words seem to be a summary of the doubts that have emerged within the Democratic Party regarding some hypotheses that have been circulating (some officially) in recent days,
