Flavio Cobolli won the ATP 500 in Acapulco 2026, beating the American Frances Tiafoe in straight sets, 7-6 (7/4) 6-4 in the final. The Italian tennis player, number 20 in the ranking and fifth seed, overcame his opponent, number 28 in the world and eighth seed, in two hours and nine minutes. At 23 years old, Cobolli won the third title of his career: the previous two had arrived in 2025, in Hamburg (ATP 500) and Bucharest (ATP 250). The Florentine is also the first Italian to win in the 33 editions of the Mexican tournament.
Darderi reaches the final in Chile
The German tennis player Yannick Hanfmann and the Italian Luciano Darderi will play the final of the Open in Santiago, Chile, after beating the Argentinians Francisco Cerùndolo and Sebastiàn Bàez respectively. The German, 34 years old, number 81 in the world, achieved the surprise by beating Cerùndolo (n.19) 6-3 6-4, earning access to the title match of the ATP 250 tournament. After eliminating the best racket in Latin America and first seed in Chile in the semi-final, Hanfmann will look for the first title of his career on Sunday, in a tournament that closes the South American tour on clay. At 27 years old, Cerùndolo failed in his bid for his fifth title since 2022, two weeks after becoming champion of the Buenos Aires Open for the first time. In the other semi-final, the Italian Luciano Darderi (n.21) respected the prediction by beating the Argentine Sebastiàn Bàez (n.52), third seed, with the final score of 6-4 6-3. Finalist in Buenos Aires, where he lost to Cerùndolo, Darderi, second seed, aims to win the fifth trophy of his career on the circuit. (AGI)
