The nightmare of attacks in the United States, in retaliation for the attack by Washington and Israel against Iran, culminated in the attack on a synagogue in Michigan. It is currently unclear what the motive of the man who drove his car or his truck packed with mortars into the Temple of Israel, on the outskirts of Detroit, and opened fire on security agents before being killed.
But from the deployment of forces, at least a hundred police cars, it was clear that there was fear of a large-scale attack. Also because the targeted synagogue hosts one of the largest Reform Jewish congregations in the United States and there is also a nursery school in the complex. Fortunately, no victims, except the attacker, and only one injured, an officer hit by his vehicle who managed to enter the entrance of the synagogue.
The children, all aged 3 to 5, were immediately evacuated thanks to the extensive security measures present in the place of worship, as explained by Sheriff Michael Bouchard. However, for a few hours the city of Bloomfield remained in suspense, also because it was not immediately clear whether the attacker had acted alone. As soon as it received news of the attack, the Jewish Federation of Detroit ordered a lockdown on all Jewish organizations in the area and “safety mode” went into effect in the schools.
According to initial reconstructions, the man crashed his vehicle at the entrance to the synagogue and was neutralized by the guards who shot and killed him. From the videos broadcast on American TV, a column of black smoke could be seen rising from the main building of the temple, probably coming from the attacker’s car.
Since the beginning of the ‘Epic Fury’ operation in Iran, security measures have been strengthened in sensitive locations throughout the United States. Just a few hours before the attack on the Temple of Israel, Donald Trump had received an intelligence briefing on the presence of Iranian sleeper cells in America.
“There are a lot of people who came because of Biden and that stupid open border. But we know where most of them are, we keep an eye on them all”, assured the American president. In recent days, according to ABC news, the FBI warned California that Iran intended to attack the west coast with drone launches in the event of a US raid.
The White House, however, denied the news, asking the network to remove it from its site. “This is false information intended to intentionally alarm the American people,” spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt attacked on X.
