Work began this morning on the construction of the new roundabout which will replace the current traffic light system in via Lucrezia della Valle. A strategic intervention to improve the safety and fluidity of circulation, as well as to enhance sustainable mobility in the city.
The news was given by municipal councilor Vincenzo Capellupo, who underlines the importance of the work in the broader framework of the municipal administration’s urban policies.
“The start of these works represents a significant step towards a more modern, safe and sustainable city. The new roundabout will streamline vehicular traffic and reduce waiting times, eliminating traffic lights and improving road safety in a particularly busy area”, declares councilor Capellupo.
“The intervention – he continues – also takes on a strategic value for soft mobility: the roundabout will constitute the initial junction of the cycle path which will connect via Lucrezia della Valle to the Fortuna district without interruption, encouraging sustainable travel and promoting a new vision of urban spaces”.
Capellupo also wanted to express heartfelt thanks to the Councilor for Public Works Pasquale Squillace for his commitment to carrying out the work: “I would like to thank Councilor Squillace for the constant attention and work carried out, which made possible the start of this long-awaited and fundamental intervention for the infrastructural development of the city”.
“This is a work that will contribute to improving the quality of life of citizens and making Catanzaro increasingly attentive to the needs of safety, accessibility and environmental sustainability”, concludes Capellupo.
Barberio: “Intervention that redesigns the road system and is the result of good Fiorita administration”
“The start of work for the construction of the new roundabout in via Lucrezia della Valle is another concrete result that demonstrates the constant commitment and represents the administrative vision that the mayor Nicola Fiorita intended to carry forward to improve mobility, especially in the areas where there are greater critical issues and safety risks”. This was stated by city councilor Antonio Barberio.
“The intervention launched today aims to reorganize a fundamental road axis for the Santa Maria district, destined to become even more central with the imminent entry into operation of the surface metro and also connecting with other soft mobility systems, starting from cycle paths. Good administration is seen in the ability to anticipate needs and implement useful actions for the community, such as modern, safe roads capable of guaranteeing efficient responses to new flows. Addressing the bureaucratic complexities of interventions that redesign traffic management, we can demonstrate that listening to the territory, combined with determination and political will, represents a winning factor for the Fiorita council capable of bringing tangible results – concludes Barberio – I will continue to monitor the timetable of these precious works which will deliver a further step to the city to meet future challenges”.
