The center-left has made official the names of the candidates who will run for the presidency of the I, II, III, V and VII Districts. During the press conference, which was attended by mayoral candidate Antonella Russo, a political proposal based on administrative decentralization and strengthening ties with local communities was illustrated. Among the first programmatic points indicated is the restoration of the branch office of the Municipal Police in the VI District.

Who I am

First Constituency – Giovanni Bonfiglio
39 years old, always involved in social issues and village life, Bonfiglio represents a candidacy that comes from the bottom. With a past as president and vice-president of local associations, he has promoted initiatives capable of strengthening the sense of community, from White Nights to activities for families and children. His proposal focuses on the relaunch of the suburbs through real administrative decentralization, the reduction of taxes based on services, the security of the territory and the valorization of local traditions. The priorities also include the fight against coastal erosion, the recovery of infrastructure and the creation of new social and cultural spaces.

Second Constituency – Francesco Carabellò
21 years old, originally from Contesse, he represents the youngest member of the team. Raised in school activism, he brings with him a fresh and participation-oriented vision. Among the central themes of his program: roads, administrative decentralization, creation of social spaces, fight against heavy traffic in villages, commitment against hydrogeological instability and coastal erosion, in addition to his position against the bridge over the Strait.

Third District – Roberto Smedile
Architect, freelancer and member of the Board of Directors of the Mediterranean Architects Foundation, Smedile brings solid technical and administrative experience to the field. Always active in society and sport, he is also coach of the women’s football team at the University of Messina and radio speaker. His candidacy focuses on urban planning, territorial safety, redevelopment of roads and valorisation of cultural heritage. The strengthening of local markets and the creation of new spaces for social aggregation are also central.

Fifth District – Giuseppe “Pippo” Picciotto
Judicial officer of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, with over twenty years of experience as a district councilor, Picciotto represents a figure of continuity and profound knowledge of the territory. His political commitment is based on a clear principle: politics as a service. Among the priorities are urban regeneration, the redevelopment of the suburbs, the improvement of essential services and the relaunch of opportunities for young people, with the aim of combating emigration and restoring prospects to the city.

Seventh District – Salvatore Grosso
Geologist, expert in environmental risks and sustainable land management, Grosso proposes a candidacy strongly linked to environmental protection and conscious planning. A profound expert on the villages of the northern area, he denounces years of abandonment and relaunches the need for structural intervention for the security and development of the territory. His proposal aims to combine technical skills and civic participation, with particular attention to the protection of the coasts and the prevention of hydrogeological risks.
