From the attack on the European Union and the “evil duo composed of the EU and the IMF”, with the stop to the Green Deal and the Stability Pact, to the issue of immigration, with remigration, or rather repatriations, for those who do not respect the law. With the slogan “In Europe we are masters in our own home” Matteo Salvini brought the European Patriots to Piazza Duomo in Milan, from the Frenchman Jordan Bardella to the Dutchman Geert Wilders. Viktor Orban was notably absent but the leader of the League thanked from the stage and supported after the defeat in the Hungarian political elections.
Protests by antagonists and social centers took place a few meters from the stage. There were three marches against the sovereignist rally, in a Milan armored by the police. The Patriots’ meeting was held after weeks of controversy over the concept of “remigration”, a word that seemed to have almost disappeared from the event platform, until Salvini himself said it from the stage, after remembering the founder of the League Umberto Bossi and asking for a minute of silence for Giacomo Bongiorni, the 41-year-old who was beaten to death in front of his son in Massa.

In recent days the theme of “remigration” has sparked friendly fire from Forza Italia allies who have distanced themselves from this concept, so much so that this morning at the Arco della Pace the head of the Immigration department of Forza Italia Milano Amir Atrous promoted an event with second generation Italians as protagonists. The Islamization of the continent, illegal immigration, border control, the defense of the Christian values of Europe and the West were at the center of the interventions of the international guests. Bardella of the Rassemblement National spoke about the Open Arms trial in which “Salvini was relentlessly attacked by the far left and accused of doing his duty” because “he courageously stopped the landings of illegal immigrants”. While Wilders returned to the news story of the two Dutch girls who were allegedly raped in Milan by two immigrants: “we cannot accept it, we must stop immigration from Islamic countries”.
The leader of the PVV party painted Milan as the capital “of baby gangs, terrorized by young criminal immigrants”. Salvini from the stage of his city, Milan, which he promised to reconquer in the next municipal elections, also winning the general elections, attacked the European Union by asking for the suspension of the Stability Pact and the Green Deal. “Brussels wants to tackle the energy crisis with a new lockdown – he said -. No, we have no intention of closing schools and factories”. And he raised the issue of opening up to gas Russian, after the stop to the sanctions decided by the USA: “if they do it in Washington they must also do it in Brussels”.
