“The resources that will be disbursed today to the 70 Calabrian companies that have requested aid to deal with the damage caused by the violent cyclone Harry, which hit the regional territory last January, amount to 1,274,060.40 euros”. This was communicated in a joint statement by the vice-president and councilor for public works, Filippo Mancuso and the councilor for economic development and tourism, Giovanni Calabrese, underlining the timeliness of the intervention implemented by the Calabria region.

“Just 48 hours after submitting the requests on the Fincalabra platform, after the ordinary process required by the Civil Protection – declare Mancuso and Calabrese – we managed to provide the compensation, guaranteeing concrete and immediate support to the affected businesses. Years ago similar payments were paid in biblical times, after months and months: we, thanks to a precise strategy, did it in two days”. The councilors highlight how the current legislation provides for a complex bureaucratic process, based on the advance payment of expenses by the beneficiaries and on the subsequent reporting to obtain reimbursement.

“These are procedures which, in an emergency situation, risk slowing down the recovery – they explain -. Many businesses, brought to their knees by the events, were unable to advance the sums necessary to restart. For this reason, the Region has chosen to intervene with a quicker and more effective model: it signed an agreement with Fincalabra and activated a platform dedicated to the collection of requests, thus managing to speed up disbursement times and reach businesses belonging to different Ateco codes and owners in record time of beach concessions”.

“Only two days ago the request presentation phase opened and today we are already able to provide the resources – they add -. A result that testifies to the efficiency of the regional administrative machine in such a delicate phase”.

Finally, attention is already turned to the next interventions: “The Calabria Region – conclude Mancuso and Calabrese – is already working to extend the measures to main homes and, subsequently, to second homes, with the aim of ensuring timely refreshments for citizens too”.
