The program of the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix is changing. The race will start three hours earlier than initially scheduled due to heavy rain expected in Florida.
Early departure due to bad weather
The fifth edition of the US stage, initially set for 4pm local time (10pm in Italy), will start at 1pm (7pm Italian time). The decision was communicated with a joint note from the FIA, Formula 1 and the organizers of the Grand Prix.
The choice was based on the weather forecast announcing “heavy rain in the afternoon, close to the originally scheduled departure time”. The objective is “to minimize disruption to the race” and to guarantee “the maximum possible time margin to complete the Grand Prix in the best conditions”.
Safety first
The organizers underlined how the change to the timetable was adopted to “give priority to the safety of riders, fans, teams and staff”, avoiding the risks associated with adverse weather conditions.

In first position on the starting grid will be the Mercedes of 19-year-old Kimi Antonelli from Bologna, leader of the drivers’ standings. For the young Italian talent, another important opportunity to confirm his positive moment in a race that promises to be conditioned by the uncertain weather.
