No one will be able to say that the “SOS” had not been given in advance. And it is not clear why the Sicilian Region has not yet given an official response to the alarm raised by the “Vincenzo Crisafulli” Committee, which includes over 150 seat presidents. The date of the administrative elections is getting ever closer, May 24th and 25th are now upon us and, while the electoral campaign rages on, we cannot continue to underestimate the issue raised by those who rightly say they are worried about the “deafening silence” that has arrived so far from Palermo.
The Region, in reality, has had its say, publishing the handbook for the administrative authorities on the island but the rules in force in Sicily are different from the national ones. Only here, in fact, is it established that the operations of installing the members of the polling stations, of counting, authentication and endorsement of the ballots and of filling in the paragraphs of the minutes, take place starting from 6 in the morning and until the opening of the polling station scheduled for 7 on Sunday. In the rest of Italy, operations open at 4pm on Saturday afternoon, therefore allowing much more suitable times for completing essential procedures for the success of the electoral competition.
