Calabria is a wonderful land to discover and with these summer connections, we want to further support both incoming tourism in the region and the mobility of Calabrians towards Sardinia and Umbria. Our commitment is to facilitate tourism and generate new economic opportunities, thanks to an increasingly widespread transport network, we will continue to invest in new routes to create added value for local communities and all travellers”.
Marco Franchini, Sole Director of Sacal, commented: “We welcome with great satisfaction the expansion of Aeroitalia’s offer from Lamezia Terme, which strengthens the strategic role of our airport in national connectivity and in the development of the territory. The new direct connection with Cagliari represents an absolutely important innovation: for the first time our airport will directly connect Calabria and Sardinia, creating new opportunities for mobility, exchange and growth between two territories united by a strong tourist and cultural vocation. This connection goes beyond the simple service to passengers, as a concrete development lever for tourism, exchanges and interregional mobility.
We also look very favorably on the connection with Perugia, which once again connects two territories linked not only by the mobility of a significant Calabrian community residing in Umbria, but also by interesting tourism development prospects. We hope that this seasonal restart can soon turn into a stable annual connection.
Aeroitalia confirms a concrete vision in strengthening connections between Italian cities, creating growth opportunities for the territories and contributing to making air transport increasingly closer to the needs of citizens and travellers.”
