Daniil Medvedev reaches the semi-final at the Italian Internationals. The Russian, seeded number 7, overcame the young Spaniard Martin Landaluce, number 94 in the world and coming from the qualifiers, at the end of a hard-fought match which ended with a score of 1-6 6-4 7-5.
The Russian’s comeback
An uphill start for Medvedev, who clearly lost the first set, before reacting with character in the following two sets, managing to reverse the inertia of the match and gain a pass for the semi-final.
Challenge to Sinner
Tomorrow at 7pm the Russian will face Jannik Sinner for a place in the final: it will be the 17th match between the two.
«Jannik is a tough opponent. I will have nothing to lose because everyone knows his strength. I will try to play my best tennis, we have never played on clay and it will be interesting to face it on a surface where we have never played”, declared Medvedev to Sky Sport.
