Blitz by the police in Crotone to combat the phenomenon of illegal occupations and restore legality. The State Police executed a release order issued by the Public Prosecutor’s Office at the Pythagorean Court, led by the Prosecutor Domenico Guarascio, freeing an apartment illegitimately occupied by a family of five people.

The property had been removed from the possession of its rightful owner for some time. Despite her attempts, the woman had never managed to regain possession of her home due to the arbitrary occupation that had continued for months.

An extraordinary plan for legality

The operation is not an isolated case, but is part of a broader and more structured operational plan strongly desired by the Police Commissioner of the Province of Crotone, Renato Panvino. With a specific ordinance, the Police Commissioner ordered a massive deployment of all the Police Forces, planning the intervention down to the smallest detail to guarantee maximum safety for both the operators and residents of the building.

The intervention made use of the recent and more stringent regulatory provisions on evictions and illegitimate occupations, which provide for an accelerated procedure to promptly return the properties to their legitimate owners.

The blitz in safety

The clearance operations, coordinated on the field by a State Police official, took place without disturbances thanks to an inter-force security framework. The soldiers of the Carabinieri and the Financial Police operated alongside the Police. The Fire Brigade, the 118 health personnel and the Municipality’s Social Services also intervened on site to manage the fragilities linked to the five occupants.

Immediately after the eviction, the technicians appointed by the owners proceeded to make the property safe, changing the locks and armoring the accesses to avoid new intrusion attempts and preserve its inviolability.

The budget

At the end of the activities, the apartment was finally returned to its rightful owner. The woman who led the illegal family unit has been reported to the police and will have to answer to the judicial authority for the crime of “Arbitrary occupation of a property intended for the domicile of others”. The operation sends a strong signal in the area in the fight against crimes against property and in defense of the right to private property.
