Paul Magnier wins the eighteenth stage of the Giro d’Italia 2026, the 171 kilometer Fai della Paganella-Pieve di Soligo. The Soudal Quick-Step sprinter preceded Edoardo Zambanini of Bahrain Victorious and Jonathan Milan of Lidl-Trek in the sprint.
The stage was characterized by a long breakaway that began in the early stages with Mattia Bais, Andrea Mifsud, James Shaw and Jonas Geens. The pink jersey group controlled without any particular acceleration, constantly maintaining the gap around two minutes.
Attacks in the final and decisive sprint
The platoon was back together about twenty kilometers from the finish line, even if Geens tried to resist until the Muro di Cà del Poggio. Afonso Eulalio and Kulset also moved towards the end, but the sprinters managed to return in the last kilometers preparing for the final sprint.
For Magnier this is the third success in this edition of the Corsa Rosa. Tomorrow there will be room for the nineteenth and penultimate mountain stage, the Feltre-Alleghe (Piani di Pezzè), with five mountain Grand Prix and approximately 5000 meters of altitude difference.
