More connections, fewer private cars and faster travel for students of the Magna Graecia University of Catanzaro. “UMG Go” is born, the new mobility service dedicated to the university community and designed to directly connect the Campus to the main areas of the city.

The initiative will start from the second week of June thanks to the use of three shuttles which will carry out direct runs between the university campus and the main urban nodes, without intermediate stops.

The agreement between the UMG Foundation and AMC was signed

The agreement was made official in the meeting room of the Rectorate in the presence of the rector Giovanni Cuda. The president of the UMG Foundation, Geremia Romano, and the general director of AMC Spa, Luca Brancaccio, signed the agreement.

The project aims to encourage collective mobility, improve accessibility to university services and reduce the use of private cars, through dedicated connections between university buildings, campus residences and strategic points in the city.

Two direct routes and reduced times

A shuttle will connect the Lido district train station with the “Salvatore Venuta” Campus in about eleven minutes. A second connection will connect Piazza Matteotti to the university campus with an average journey time of sixteen minutes.

The service will be financed through regional funds intended for interventions for the right to university education provided for by regional law.

«This agreement demonstrates attention to the needs of students», declared the rector Cuda, while the president of the UMG Foundation, Romano, highlighted how the project was built to offer a direct and fast transport system.

For the general director of AMC, Brancaccio, the new service represents «an important step for Catanzaro and for the right to study», strengthening the role of the capital as a university city.
