The Ukrainian front takes another Italian life. Alex Pineschi, contractor and tactical instructor originally from La Spezia, was killed in combat on May 23rd. Confirmation came from the Memorial volunteer association: “Our beloved brother died on the battlefield.” According to initial reconstructions, Pineschi fell during a high-risk operation, hit by enemy fire together with his companions from his drone unit, a specialized department in which he had been operating for some time.

From the Alpine troops to the war against ISIS in Iraq

Born in Liguria, Pineschi had enlisted in the Italian Army, serving in the Alpine corps. Between 2014 and 2019 he left as a volunteer for Iraq, fighting alongside the Kurdish Peshmerga against the Islamic State militias and also operating as a trainer and tactical instructor for the local forces.

The shooting academy and the choice of Ukraine

After returning from Iraq, he continued to work in private security, including naval surveillance and anti-piracy, later founding AP TAC, an independent academy specializing in defensive shooting, dynamic shooting and personal security techniques. With the worsening of the conflict in Ukraine he decided to return to operational theaters, specializing in the use of new drone technologies, until the tragic epilogue a few days ago.
