Music, inclusion and personal growth will be at the center of the traditional end-of-school-year event of the Roggiano Gravina-Altomonte comprehensive school, led by the head teacher Antonella Mercuro. Next June 4th, at 7.30 pm, the Nicholas Green Park in Roggiano Gravina will host the Grand Spring Concert, an event that represents one of the most awaited moments by the school and city community.
The initiative was born from the collaboration between the institute, the municipal administration, the Pro Loco, the Heart Disease Family Association of Roggiano Gravina and Bcc Mediocrati. The protagonist of the evening will be the “Fucine Creative” school orchestra, made up of students from the musical courses of the lower secondary school.
The “Simply Jazz” project at the center of the 2026 edition
This year’s edition will be characterized by the “Simply Jazz” project, conceived and developed by the institute’s Music and Instrument teachers: Alessandro Lombardi, also arranger and director of the orchestra, Fabio Rossin, sax soloist, Luigi Allegretti Gravina, Viviana Forte, Osvaldo Masci and Daniela Piraino, responsible for the planning and coordination of the activities.
After having proposed Peppe Voltarelli’s folk art in 2025, the orchestra has chosen to explore the world of jazz, interpreting it not only as a musical genre but as an authentic educational experience. In fact, through improvisation, the students had the opportunity to develop creativity, autonomy and the ability to transform mistakes into an opportunity for growth.
The collaboration of maestro Nicola Pisani, an internationally renowned musician who supported teachers and students as an external expert, was decisive in this process.
Music and theater on the Nicholas Green Park stage
The evening will also be enriched by a theatrical moment. The students will stage “Il braciere”, a performance curated by professors Anna Lauria and Graziella Marsico, teachers of Literature at the institute.
The show will propose a reflection on the value of tradition and narration as tools for self-knowledge and the construction of personal identity, offering the public a further moment of cultural in-depth analysis.
Delivery of the “Isidoro Ciaccio” Award
Among the most significant moments of the event will be the presentation of the “Isidoro Ciaccio” Award, now in its third edition. The recognition is dedicated to the memory of the esteemed music teacher of the secondary school of Roggiano Gravina, who passed away prematurely.
The prize will be awarded to third year students who have distinguished themselves not only for their achievement in musical disciplines and for the artistic results achieved, but also for human qualities such as critical thinking, empathy, kindness and relational skills.
The repertoire proposed by the orchestra will include jazz standards and moments of improvisation, offering the public an original and engaging musical experience. The event, with free admission, represents the final moment of an educational journey that aims to train young citizens who are aware, creative and open to discussion with others.
