The dramatic death toll from an accident that occurred a short while ago on the state road 106 “Jonica”, within the IP service area at km 395,000, is four deaths. The contours of the tragedy have yet to be defined and are being examined by investigators. At the moment it is only known that a vehicle caught fire while it was inside the service area and the four people – migrants and laborers – died in the fire. It seems that the four had stopped under the shelter to rest when they were surprised by the flames or by an explosion. We are in the municipal area of Amendolara, in the province of Cosenza. The police forces, the traffic police, Anas staff and the fire brigade are present on site to restore regular circulation as quickly as possible. The road is currently closed.
