Greater resources and higher contributions to support women victims of violence to rebuild their economic and personal independence. The new notice on the freedom income presents some important innovations this year: the main one concerns the strengthening of the measure, with the maximum grant that can be granted per project going from 10 thousand to 15 thousand euros, with an increase of 50 percent compared to 2025.
The overall availability of resources also grows significantly, going from 236 thousand to over 600 thousand euros.
The words of councilor Nuccia Albano
«With the published notice – declares councilor Nuccia Albano – we have chosen to strengthen the freedom income, increasing both the available resources and the maximum contribution intended for the beneficiaries.
We want to offer concrete support to women who have undertaken a path out of violence, so that no one is forced to give up their freedom for economic reasons.
Economic autonomy represents one of the fundamental steps to allow women to build a new life project for themselves and their children.”
Who is the measure intended for?
The regional intervention is aimed in particular at women already taken care of by anti-violence centers or secret reception facilities, residing in Sicily and in conditions of economic fragility and who do not benefit from the national freedom income provided by the INPS, thus contributing to providing a response to requests that have remained excluded from state funding.
The personalized projects will be able to support expenses for living and working autonomy, the payment of rent, the purchase of equipment for starting professional activities, training courses, utilities, services and initiatives aimed at job placement and social reintegration.
Interventions are also planned for children
Interventions in favor of minors or children with disabilities are also eligible, as part of their school and training career.
Applications can be submitted by Sicilian municipalities, in collaboration with anti-violence centers and accredited reception facilities, from 30 June to 31 July.
Requests will be funded in the chronological order of arrival until available resources are exhausted.
