Messina, the puzzle of the new council: Basile between expectations, appointments and political weights

The Mayor of Messina, Federico Basile, is grappling with the puzzle of appointing councilors to complete the new council. The names that have been circulating in recent days – the architect Calogero Brancatelli, the former president of Messinaservizi Mariagrazia Interdonato, one of the candidates on the young list, including the hypothesis Beatrice Mellini – are not yet certain, because there are balances to manage within a family, that of the South calls the North, which in these elections has expanded dramatically. Naturally extending the list of contenders for a place in the sun. For example, the possible subrogations that the nominees would take over from the city council, if they were elected, also depend on the appointments of the councillors. Among these, for example, Raffaele Rinaldo, Giuseppe Busà and Salvatore Papa in South calls North are “beating the beat”, but also Gabriele Arcovito from the Basile Mayor list, who would take Brancatelli’s place if he were to be nominated.

Among the councilors with past administrative experience, at the moment, only the former deputy mayor Salvatore Mondello would be left out (the rumors spoke, for him, of the general direction of the metropolitan city, but at the moment everything is on stand-by), Roberto Cicala and Francesco Caminiti. In no case, however, would these be failures, on the contrary: more than probable future repositionings, between investee companies and other positions. But at the moment everything is at stake, including the presidency of the city council.
