Crackdown on safety in nightlife venues on the Ionian coast of Catanzaro. Yesterday evening, June 4, a major inter-force check took place inside a well-known nightclub in the area. The operation, coordinated by the Catanzaro Police Headquarters through a specific order from the Police Commissioner, falls within the directives established during the last Committee for Public Order and Security chaired by the Prefect, also born following the dramatic events that recently occurred in Crans-Montana.
The blitz saw the synergistic action of a real task force composed of the Administrative Police Team of the Police Headquarters, the Carabinieri, the Provincial Fire Brigade Command and the SIAE inspectors
Alcohol for under 16s and safety irregularities
The outcome of the inspection revealed serious violations. Among the heaviest complaints stands out the administration of alcoholic beverages to minors under 16 years of age, a phenomenon targeted by the police for the protection of younger people.
On the structural and management safety front, the checks ascertained the failure to comply with the requirements imposed by the Municipal Supervisory Commission, configuring a violation of article 80 of the TULPS (Consolidated Law on Public Security). Furthermore, specific investigations are still underway to verify the contractual regularity and the effective use of the security personnel (the so-called “bouncers”) and the fire-fighting personnel.
“Black” tickets and SIAE seals
Serious irregularities also emerged on the tax and copyright front. The SIAE staff in fact complained to the owner of the restaurant:
Failure to issue entrance tickets (unissued or irregular tickets).
The total absence of the SIAE license required for the diffusion of music.
The risk of closure and the Police Headquarters’ appeal to parents
The Police Headquarters has made it known that preventive checks will continue without stopping throughout the summer period in public entertainment venues in the province, specifying that:
In the event of recurrence of this serious conduct, article 100 of the TULPS will apply, which provides for the suspension or definitive revocation of the premises license directly by the Police Commissioner.
Finally, the Public Security authority wanted to launch a strong social appeal, drawing families’ attention to the importance of constant dialogue with their children. The collaboration of parents is considered a fundamental pillar for preventing risky behavior and identifying dangerous situations in time in places where young people gather.
