A holiday in Calabria that could have turned into a tragedy ended with a happy ending thanks to the promptness and professionalism of Doctor Antonino Puglisi, originally from Pizzo and working at the Vibo Valentia hospital.

The episode occurred in recent days inside the TUI MAGIC LIFE Calabria resort in Pizzo, where a Danish tourist was suddenly struck by cardiac arrest.

The decisive intervention

The doctor intervened immediately by performing cardiac massage and subsequently using the defibrillator. Thanks to the rapidity of the action and the correct execution of the life-saving maneuvers, the patient was kept in stable conditions until help arrived.

The collaboration of the resort staff also proved to be crucial, as they provided support during all phases of the emergency, contributing to the management of the situation.

The transfer and the thanks of the family

Subsequently the tourist was transferred by air ambulance to the Pugliese-Ciaccio hospital in Catanzaro, where he received the necessary specialist care. The healthcare staff of the facility followed the case with professionalism and attention, accompanying the patient on the recovery journey.

Once back in Denmark, the tourist and his family wanted to express their thanks to Doctor Puglisi, the resort staff and the healthcare workers who took part in the rescue, underlining the competence and humanity demonstrated in a particularly delicate moment.

The story also represents testimony to the effectiveness of the rescue network and the daily commitment of doctors and healthcare workers, capable of intervening promptly in the most critical cases thanks to coordinated and highly qualified work.
