The thirteenth edition of the Lamezia International Film Fest will take place from 13 to 18 July in Lamezia Terme, an event that offers screenings of auteur films, short films and in-depth studies in the presence of internationally renowned actors and directors. The theme of the thirteenth edition is «Light of my eyes», an «invitation to look better at what previously escaped us» as the artistic director Gian Lorenzo Franzì remarked during the press conference.
Two big international names are expected to receive the Ligeia Lifetime Achievement Award: the two-time Oscar-winning director Claude Lelouch and the British director Stephen Frears, who has directed, among many, actors such as Meryl Streep, Dustin Hoffman and Julia Roberts. Among the guests the actress Katia Follesa for the Paolo Villaggio Award (the only award recognized by the actor’s family), protagonist of the series «Sicilia Express»; the actor Massimiliano Gallo, who recently made his directorial debut with «La Salita»; Lucia Sardo, already nominated for the Ciak d’Oro and the Nastri d’Argento; the protagonists of the most loved TV series such as «Mare Fuori», «La Preside», «I Cesaroni-il Ritorno»: Giuseppe Pirozzi, Alfonso Capuozzo, Erasmo Genzini, Adriano Pantaleo, Flavia Gatti, Alessio Vassallo, the directors Giuseppe Piccioni, Luca Guardabascio, Mara Fondacaro, the screenwriters and hosts of the «Lovecast» podcast Paola Di Martino and Matilde Bella who will present their novel «L’estate» in your heart” (Newton Compton).
«We are – said Franzì – one of the four festivals with more than ten years behind us and over the years we try to take root in the territory through audiovisual media to give voice and signals from a social and cultural point of view. This year too the festival has been enriched with new sections: cinema of reality curated by Stefano Perrella and also the section dedicated to television series and fiction”. As regards the first section, Perrella clarified «it comes from my passion and twenty-year study of creative and social documentaries. We decided to make this bet, because it is a small section but a big bet.”
