The verification phase of the results of the Messina administrative elections has concluded. The Central Electoral Office, chaired by magistrate Giuseppe D’Agostino of the Court of Messina, completed the examination of the minutes of the 253 city sections and proceeded with the official proclamation of the 32 municipal councilors elected at Palazzo Zanca.
The new municipal council will be made up of 20 representatives of the lists supporting the mayor Federico Basile, recipients of the majority prize, and 12 councilors representing the minority forces.
In the majority coalition, representatives of the South calls North lists, Basile Mayor of Messina, Messina Protagonist, Federico for Messina and Amo Messina enter the Council.
For the South calls North list, the following were elected: Serena Giannetto, Massimiliano Minutoli, Nello Pergolizzi, Nicoletta D’Angelo, Liana Cannata, Antonella Feminò and Alessandra Calafiore.
For the Basile Mayor of Messina list, the following enter the Council: Nicola Maddocco, Calogero Brancatelli, Francesco Benedetto and Valentina Capone.
For Messina Protagonist the following are elected: Paolo Alibrandi, Alessandro La Cava and Antonino Bonfiglio.
For the Federico per Messina list, the following were elected: Mirko Cantello, Cetty Pirone and Francesco Asciutto.
For Amo Messina enter: Giuseppe Chiarella, Lino Summa and Silvia Bosurgi.
The minority representation, which is entitled to a total of 12 seats, will be made up of councilors elected from the centre-right lists, of the Democratic Party and of the coalition linked to the mayoral candidate Marcello Scurria, who will be entitled to the seat provided for the non-elected mayoral candidate.
For Fratelli d’Italia the following were elected: Libero Gioveni and Dario Carbone.
Entering for the Popolari and Autonomisti: Benedetto Vaccarino and Anna Sorbello.
For the Marcello Scurria Mayor list, the following are elected: Simona Contestabile and Giuseppe Capurro, as well as Marcello Scurria himself as the non-elected mayoral candidate.
For the League the following were elected: Amalia Centofanti and Cosimo Oteri.
For the Democratic Party, the following join the Council: Mariella Perrone, Alessandro Russo and Antonella Russo.
With the proclamation of the elected representatives, the new institutional structure of the Messina City Council officially takes shape. The outgoing president Nello Pergolizzi will have to convene the first installation session of the Council within fifteen days, as required by law, thus starting the new council legislature.
