33.9% of Pnrr projects completed in Calabria: there is a risk of ruining everything

A deadline that marks a defeat. Yet another missed train, the opportunity to write a development page thanks to the over 13 thousand projects financed by the Pnrr, gone up in smoke. Works that must be completed by the day after tomorrow (completions and reports to be sent by August 2026). But the picture that emerges from the data presented by Foical, the Federation of Orders of Engineers of Calabria, speaks of delays, of administrative machinery emptied of technical figures, of a series of critical issues that have drastically reduced the potential of the operation.
The representatives of the body which brings together the Orders of Catanzaro, Cosenza, Crotone, Reggio Calabria and Vibo Valentia, respectively chaired by the engineers Francesco Dattilo, Pierluigi Catanzaro, Vincenzo Mano, Francesco Foti and Pasquale Romano Mazza, explain: «According to the OpenPnrr data updated to 26 February 2026, 13,765 PNRR projects are located in the regional territory, for a volume of approximately 14 billion euros, of which 10.2 billion of Pnrr resources and 3.8 billion of other resources, distributed across strategic areas. Numbers that do not automatically coincide with the full implementation of the interventions. The most recent framework recalled by the Court of Auditors, based on ReGiS data, places Calabria among the regions with the most critical issues in the implementation phase: completed projects amount to 33.9%, while payments actually made stop at 29% of the overall cost of the interventions”.
