From Saturday 4 July 2026, at 6.30 pm, the shop window of Studio Anastasio, at no. 14 in via Calamech, will host “ZONASUD”, the fourteenth appointment with SUPPORTUOGHI, with photographs by Gerri Gambino which will guide us along an almost invisible stretch of coast of the Strait of Messina.
There are about 10 kilometers of almost inaccessible coastline: to reach it you have to squeeze through a couple of narrow railway underpasses, emerging onto short strips of beach often cluttered with rubble and the remains of the last storm.
It is the denied view of the sea in the southern area of the city: an unknown urban stretch that extends from the historic Lanterna del Montorsoli to the Tremestieri landing place.
Also for this occasion, an artist’s book was created, in a limited number of copies, with an original text by the author and a story in images of the forgotten Strait
A place of dialogue, a device for contact with the changing and plural exterior, the shop window in via Calamech 14 is the setting for the SOPRALLUOGHI journey which, through the voices and languages of contemporary arts, with artists, photographers, architects, poets, scientists, philosophers and historians, wants to activate free practices of research, narration and testimony of the feeling that animates the shores of the Strait, for a renewed pact with the sea and with one’s own time.
