The shock wave of the massive judicial police operation in Reggio Calabria which last 14 July hit 79 people, held responsible in various capacities for mafia association, extortion, drug trafficking and other serious crimes, does not stop.

Following the blitz, the men of the State Police on duty at the SISCO of Reggio Calabria and the soldiers of the Investigative Unit of the Carabinieri Provincial Command launched a widespread manhunt across the entire provincial territory. The objective: to track down the suspects who had immediately managed to escape the execution of precautionary measures.

The grip of the Prosecutor’s Office and the surrender of the wanted men

The searches, conducted non-stop since the first hours following the operation, generated intense investigative pressure. An incessant activity that pushed the two wanted men to surrender within a few days.

The first showed up directly at the Archi Carabinieri station, where he found the men of the Carabinieri and the State Police waiting for him who immediately arrested him. The second subject, however, chose to surrender spontaneously by presenting himself at the gates of the prison in Reggio Calabria.

Synergy against the ‘Ndrangheta

The outcome of the research once again confirms the effectiveness of the joint and coordinated action of the police forces in the area, committed to combating organized crime and bringing the recipients of the orders issued by the Judicial Authority to justice.
