He had to undergo an operation but more were needed for Antonino De Domenico, 43, who died last October 8 at the Polyclinic. The diabetic man with other health problems had agreed with a hematologist to undergo bariatric surgery to lose weight and feel better, unfortunately he died a few days later. The wife and family want to understand what happened, assisted by the lawyers Fabio Mirenzio, Pietro Venuti and Giuseppe Floresta they presented a complaint to the Gazzi police. The Prosecutor’s Office has opened an investigation into the matter, investigating at this stage, as required, three doctors who are assisted by the lawyers Salvatore Santonocito, Emanuele Puglisi and Nino Favazzo. The autopsy has already been carried out by the medical examiners Marco Torrisi and Giuseppe Siragusa appointed by the deputy prosecutor Massimo Trifirò to establish the cause of death. Technical consultants from the other parties also participated in the autopsy. The lawyers Mirenzio, Venuti and Floresta nominated the doctor Antonio Messina while the lawyer Santonocito the doctor Marcello Bartolotta and the lawyer Favazzo the prof. Fabrizio Perri. As reconstructed by his wife in the complaint, Antonino De Domenico was diabetic, obese, had long suffered from thrombophilia and had also had a pulmonary embolism, for this reason he had decided to undergo bariatric surgery. On October 2 he was hospitalized and underwent surgery. Upon leaving the operating room she was told that the operation had been successful but they had to change the agreed technique. Initially he hadn’t been well but then things improved so much that the next day he got out of bed even though he was in pain. On 5 October the man was discharged and returned in the afternoon having complained of severe stomach pain. He had been subjected to numerous tests and also a CT scan which – according to what was reported in the complaint – revealed that the husband had blood clots in his internal organs. Hence the operation to dissolve the clots and hospitalization in intensive care, but the man’s condition did not improve, two more operations then followed. This brings us to October 8th when the woman and her family were notified of the death. The man leaves behind his wife and two children
