Andrew and Tristan Tate, brothers and British influencers, were arrested in Miami. The Guardian reports it. The charges against the two were not disclosed, but the arrest followed an extradition request from Great Britain where Andrew Tate was indicted for rape, organizing or facilitating trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation, assault causing bodily harm and 19 other charges.
Tristan Tate, 38, is charged with sexual assault, rape organizing or facilitating trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation. The two men were also charged in Romania with human trafficking, rape and forming a criminal conspiracy, following their arrest in December 2022.
According to the British police report, the events took place between July 2010 and August 2017. Former kickboxing champions who became heroes of the Maga movement and influencers of the so-called ‘manosphere’, a chauvinistic and misogynistic movement that has millions of followers on social media, the two fled from Great Britain to Romania in 2015 after Andrew was accused of rape and strangulation by three women. The brothers then took advantage of the relative immunity they enjoyed in Bucharest to systematically recruit and exploit women, many of them teenagers, forcing them to shoot porn videos in the so-called American Village, a compound protected by armed guards just north of the Romanian capital.
In 2022, after the alarm raised by a ‘girlfriend’ of Tristan, the brothers ended up under investigation in Romania for human trafficking, child trafficking, pedophilia and money laundering. They have been wanted for years in Great Britain.
