With the favorable vote of all political forces, the Messina City Council approved the Entity’s participation in the Quinquies scrapping scheme. Commenting on the measure is Mayor Federico Basile, who underlines how the measure represents an opportunity for citizens to regularize their tax position without penalties and interest, while at the same time allowing the Municipality to recover resources to be allocated to community services.

“This is a concrete opportunity – writes Mayor Basile on his Facebook page – to allow citizens to regularize their position towards the Municipality by paying only the amount due, without penalties and interest, for taxes and fines entrusted to the collection from 1 January 2000 to 31 December 2023.

A measure of responsibility that offers the possibility of complying, at the same time allowing the Municipality to recover precious resources to reinvest in the services and interventions that the city needs.

I thank the city council for the unanimous vote: when the good of the city comes first, the institutions demonstrate that they know how to work together, offering concrete answers to citizens.”
