A heartfelt appeal against the approval of the 2026 Report and the Rebalancing Plan. This is what former mayor Paolo Mascaro launched on the eve of the City Council meeting which will be held this morning in via Perugini. An operation which, due to its structure, “risks condemning the community” to an “unjustified” financial crisis. The focus of Mascaro’s dissent concerns two critical accounting areas: the provision for historical debts linked to the water and waste service and the quantification of the litigation fund. Regarding debts to the Calabria Region, the former mayor underlines that the institution has always honored the installments punctually, highlighting how, based on Legislative Decree 104/20 (August Decree), it is not necessary to set aside the entire residual debt in the administrative result, but rather it is sufficient to “guarantee annual coverage in the budget, similarly to mortgages”, thus avoiding generating a “fictitious deficit” in contrast with the practice of other Calabrian municipalities.
