National Future, the party of MEP Roberto Vannacci, enters the Crotone municipal council. The new group was made up of two new councilors from the majority who supported the candidacy of mayor Vincenzo Voce, re-elected last May.
Passing with Vannacci are Saverio Flotta, who comes from Fratelli d’Italia, and Vincenzo Familiari, elected with the Crescere list, the civic movement founded by Voce. The news was given by MP Domenico Furgiuele, regional manager of Calabria for Futuro Nazionale, according to whom the general’s party “is the safe haven for those who have been disappointed by the traditional centre-right and no longer recognize themselves in a political action that has progressively lost values, identities and historical battles”.
For their part, the Fleet and Family members state that they felt «the need for an alternative that puts meritocracy, security, territorial defense and pragmatism first. It is essential to bring citizens closer to the institutions with a constant presence among the people, far from the logic of the Palace and close to common sense and the demands of the community.” With the passage of Flotta from the FdI group to that of Futuro Nazionale, assuming the position of group leader, the Melonian formation in the city council thinned out, going from three to two councillors. Flotta specified that he wanted to respect «the popular mandate received in support of Mayor Voce, which we strongly supported and reconfirmed with a large plebiscite». Despite the reassurances of the new councilor from Vannaccia, the mayor announced that the transfer of the two majority representatives to another group “inevitably requires reflection, especially since it occurs a few months after the new council took office”. Per Voce «every choice brings with it a political responsibility. For this reason I believe that changes in location and belonging always deserve to be carefully evaluated, especially when they occur at the beginning of the administrative process. In the next few days I will promote a discussion with the majority forces to understand the reasons for this choice and verify its implications on the political and administrative path started with the electoral mandate”. The impression is that the councilor position assigned to a member of the Brothers of Italy could be reevaluated.
