The Poetry Festival returns to Melicuccà in the name of Lorenzo Calogero

Everything is ready for the third edition of the “Lorenzo Calogero” Poetry Festival from today to 11 August in Melicuccà, conceived by the director and publisher Nino Cannatà and born with the aim of putting the Calabrian poet in dialogue with the great voices of Italian and European literature, bringing out the surprising relevance of his work. After the success of past editions LYRIKS – Interdisciplinary Laboratory of Artistic Research is preparing to inaugurate the event created with the patronage and support of the Municipality of Melicuccà and other partners: the Calabria Region, the Leonardo Sinisgalli Foundation, the Consortium Library of Viterbo, the Junior Poetry Festival and the Volta Scientific High School of Reggio.

The event will open today at 5.30pm with the presentation of the extension for another thirty metres, with writings and drawings by Theo Etrillard, of the «Viale dei Canti», the project conceived by Giuseppe Caccavale Studio: the intervention will be extended for another thirty meters with the writings and drawings of Giuseppe Fantino, writer and essayist from Melicucchese. In Piazza Ardenza, at 6pm, a meeting with Camilla Miglio of the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei, Marina Valensise, essayist and delegate councilor of the INDA of Syracuse, Giuseppe Caccavale, teacher at the École nationale supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, the mayor of Melicuccà Emanuele Oliveri, the education councilor of the Calabria region Eulalia Micheli, the artistic director Cannatà and the heirs of Calogero and Fantino. This will be followed, again in Piazza Ardenza, by the presentation of Giuseppe Infantino’s volumes «Giacomo Leopardi, canti», with a preface by Luigi Tassoni, and «Uno Strano stradimento» with a preface by Paolo Di Paolo. At 9.30pm in Piazza Tocco Michelangelo Zizzi with «Metaphysics in the work of Lorenzo Calogero», followed by the Suoni dell’Aspromonte concert with Mimmo Morello and Filippo Stilo.

Tomorrow at 5.30pm at Palazzo Capua there will be space for young people with the Junior Poetry Festival and the Junior Poetry Magazine, workshops and activities coordinated by Grazia Gotti and Chiara Basile. At 7pm at the Church of San Rocco the meeting with Daniela Marcheschi on Calogero’s poetry. At 9.30pm Luigi Tassoni with «Gli infiniti di Lorenzo Calogero», collection of the main essays dedicated to the poet, published by Lyriks. The day will close in Piazza Tocco, at 10.15pm, with the meeting «Le notti trovate» with Pasqualino Bongiovanni, reading by Lara Chiellino, and, to follow, «Lapa reggina – The theater on three wheels», by and with Marco Mittica.
