The week that will accompany Crotone towards the first official match of the new season will begin tomorrow. Leandro Greco’s rossoblù are expected to make their debut in the first qualifying round of the Italian Serie C Regional Cup, which will see them face Cosenza at the “Ezio Scida” stadium.
The derby, initially scheduled for Saturday 15 August, has been postponed to Sunday 16 August, with kick-off confirmed at 9pm. An important first test to evaluate the team’s condition and progress. An immediately challenging appointment for Mr Greco’s team, called to compete in a derby which will also offer passage to the next round. The formula involves a single direct elimination match: whoever manages to overcome the first obstacle will advance to the second round, where they will face the winner of the match between Giugliano and Sorrento away. Meanwhile, the club continues to work on the transfer market to complete its roster. Among the profiles followed with interest is that of Mattia Della Rocca, an attacking midfielder from Roma’s youth sector and recently taken over from Avellino upon the expiry of his contract with the Giallorossi club. An experience on loan in Serie C is now on the cards for the player, useful for finding continuity and accumulating playing time among the professionals. Crotone has expressed interest, even if there is no shortage of competition. Giugliano and Lumezzane would also have moved on the player.
The rossoblù lead remains, however, concrete and could develop in the next few days. Della Rocca would fully fall within the line followed by the club, also oriented towards young prospects to be included and enhanced in the technical project entrusted to Greco. The choice made with Giuseppe Terrasi also goes in this direction. The midfielder from Favara, born in 2007, has signed his first professional contract with Crotone and will be permanently included in the first team squad. A sign of the trust placed by the club in the qualities of the young man, who is called upon to continue his growth path.
On the exit front, Andrea Gallo’s destination could change. The midfielder seemed headed towards Foggia, but, in the last few hours, Monopoli would have made a decisive insertion.
