«The green light from Cipess for the new programming of the Infrastructure Fund represents another concrete step in the Government’s strategy to make Italian ports increasingly modern, efficient and competitive. With around 358 million euros we finance works that have been awaited for years, we unlock strategic interventions and we guarantee continuity in investments that are fundamental for the growth of national logistics”. The deputy and deputy minister of Infrastructure and Transport Edoardo Rixi says this in a note, commenting on the favorable opinion expressed by Cipess on the decree for planning the resources allocated to port infrastructure.
«We have chosen – explains Rixi – to recover and refinance works that are already mature from a planning point of view, allowing the territories to proceed quickly towards the construction phase. It is a working method based on administrative efficiency and the ability to transform financing into construction sites.” The financed interventions include the road connection to the port of Piombino, the strengthening of the port canal of Gioia Tauro, the strengthening of the rail and road accessibility of the port of Naples, the development interventions of the port system of Ancona and Ortona, the improvement of the nautical accessibility of the port of Venice, the completion of the Noghere Ro-Ro terminal in Trieste, the restart of the Tremestieri logistics platform in Messina and the creation of new moorings and the passenger terminal of the North Canal of Venice. «We are talking about investments that improve the maritime, rail and road accessibility of our ports, increase the capacity for handling goods, strengthen connections with the TEN-T networks and support the competitiveness of the entire national logistics system. Every euro invested in port infrastructure generates economic development, employment and new opportunities for the territories. For us, ports are a strategic priority. The favorable opinion of Cipess confirms that the direction taken is the right one: planning, investments and construction sites to make the Italian port system increasingly competitive at an international level”, he concludes.
