Fatal spot kicks for Catanzaro. Sudtirol advances in the Italian Cup thanks to the series of penalties: the errors of the Giallorossi Frosinini and Dorval after the 2-2 draw in regulation time were decisive. The guests took the lead with a free kick from Pyyhtia (17′ pt), even though before and after they hit the ropes on several occasions because Gorgone’s team knows how to put on a show: Pafundi equalized (27′) on an assist from D’Alessandro, Iemmello turned it around (8′ st) after a high recovery from Alesi. The Giallorossi play the ball well on the ground, however compared to the past they are more aggressive and man-oriented in the defensive phase.
However, they have the demerit of not closing out the match, wasting several chances for a hat trick, Alesi hits the post from distance (37′ st), then Mixtur, having just entered, collects a long ball coming out behind the defense and sets the score at 2-2 in a final in which the hosts are less brilliant. The penalties put Sudtirol ahead. The “Ceravolo” halved due to the works (only Distinti and the “Mammì” curve open) applauds the same and does well: the Catanzaro is coming along well.
