In Ceuta there is a real risk of terrorism and behind the social mobilization for a new wave of migration there would therefore be a real direction: the Corriere della Sera writes this, reporting on a secret service dossier that arrived at Palazzo Chigi, also the result of the information shared by the Spanish 007s. In particular, under the magnifying glass of intelligence there is a buzz on social media for a new exodus by August 15th. In the private WhatsApp chats shared by the monitored Facebook groups we read: «Let’s hit them on day 10 and not 11. There are demonstrations for day 9.”

According to the report, the mobilization would be fueled by TikTok users sending WhatsApp links to Facebook groups, with telephone numbers also coming from the USA, Egypt, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya and Senegal. According to intelligence, “a direction for the campaign” is underway which cannot be attributed to a specific actor for the moment. The groups are also allegedly used by “human traffickers”.

The dossier highlights the risk that Ceuta could become a center of “jihadist radicalization and recruitment”. In nearby Fnideq, Morocco, the area has often been affected by joint counter-terrorism operations between Spain and Morocco to dismantle cross-border jihadist networks. Madrid has meanwhile strengthened the security device with a floating barrier of around 500 metres, two frigates, around two thousand soldiers and greater use of the Guardia Civil and Policìa Nacional.
