Lots of messages on social media. Because Andrea Rago, 28 years old, who died this morning in a car accident in Bisignano, was everyone’s friend. In Luzzi where he grew up everyone loved him. “Compa, we were together until this morning at 7 and we said goodbye saying that we had to go to Sila together – writes our friend Guifo – But after 1 hour and a half a phone call arrived that I never expected to receive. You were a humble, polite and respectful person, you were everyone’s friend, you left a void inside me that I will never be able to fill. I never wanted to receive this news, it wasn’t supposed to go like this, you still had too many things to accomplish, you promised me that you would come to visit me at the end of September in Germany and now with tears in my eyes I am writing these words knowing that I will never be able to accept this news. I want to remember you like this with your shining smile, you were this and unfortunately God always takes the best people peace and teach the angels to smile like you always did. I love you very much and I will love you forever. My heartfelt condolences to all your family.
The pain of the mayor of Luzzi
“There is news that you would never want to receive and, in the face of tragedies like this, finding the words becomes really difficult. This morning our community was hit by another terrible tragedy. Andrea Rago, a young man from Luzzo, lost his life in a tragic car accident that occurred in Bisignano. I knew Andrea personally and, being a friend of his family, I had the opportunity to see him grow and become that good, generous and altruistic boy that we all knew, cheerful and companionable, capable with his simplicity and his smile of making himself loved by everyone. This is why today I really struggle to think that he is no longer here. It is difficult to resign ourselves to the idea that such a young boy, full of life and with so much still ahead of him, is no longer here. The news of his passing is dismaying and hurts even more because, once again, we are forced to mourn one of our fellow citizens who lost his life on the street, another pain that deeply affects all of Luzzi his family had already experienced. Only a few months ago he had lost his dear father and today it is really difficult to even imagine the pain of a family already so severely tried. There are no words that can give comfort in a moment like this. Nothing can soothe such great pain and that of the Municipal Administration and the entire community. Luzzi. Hi Andrea. We will remember you for your smile, for your kindness and for your great cheerfulness.”
