The final interrogations of some professors who are said to be involved, in various capacities, in the investigation relating to the management of training activities in a training center for seafarers in Palmi have ended in recent days.
The investigative activity, conducted by the Coast Guard of Gioia Tauro and coordinated by the competent Public Prosecutor’s Office of Palmi, began with a series of investigations aimed at verifying the regularity of the professional courses intended for maritime personnel and issued by a training school.
In fact, all personnel who intend to embark are obliged to attend specific training and training courses, required by national and international regulations, to acquire the skills necessary to carry out their duties on board. The courses aim to guarantee adequate standards of preparation, as in the management of emergencies aimed at safeguarding human life at sea.
The first investigations started from the analysis of some anomalies and irregularities of an administrative nature, which emerged as part of the ordinary control activities, which made it necessary to carry out a more in-depth examination of the documentation. From here, further investigations arose, aimed at verifying the regularity of the training activities, the presence of the instructors and seafarers and the certificates issued.
