A mix of young people and experts, women and men with undoubted professional skills and united among themselves by their love for the city. This is how Federico Basile presents his “sub-government team”, after the appointments made official on Tuesday afternoon. The opposition goes on the attack, the Administration, however, says it is certain that whoever takes office at the top of the investee companies will make their own valuable contribution, in the name of continuity with the previous managements but also of innovations that will be gradually introduced over the next 12 months.
It should be remembered that the professionals destined to make up the new administrative bodies will take office only after their formal appointment has been released by the respective shareholders’ meetings, in accordance with the provisions of the company statutes.
For Amam, Basile believes he has chosen one of the best possible technicians around, former municipal manager, Eng. Salvatore Saglimbeni. As announced, Maria Fernanda Gervasi (who grew up politically alongside Matilde Siracusano) and Giovanni Donato have joined the Board of Directors. The mayor is also particularly proud of the choices regarding the ATM, entrusted to Chiara Sterrantino and with Claudia Brudetto, president of Sicindustria Giovani, and Salvatore Mangano, members of the Board of Directors. And also Messinaservizi’s move on the chessboard, according to Basile, goes in the right direction, because the presidency is entrusted to an esteemed professional in the city, Vincenzo Ciraolo, former president of the Bar Association. The board members are Giovanni Scopelliti and Giovanna Crifò, the former “pasionaria” of columnists and temporary workers, historical face of the city council in recent decades, all her life spent in the ranks of the centre-right, before the transition with Cateno De Luca and with South calls North. For “Patrimonio Messina Spa”, as is known, the trio is made up of the designated president Francesco Romano and the members of the Board of Directors, Claudia Lo Cascio and Vincenzo Calabrò. Finally, for Messina Social City the new Board of Directors is made up of Francesco Giorgio, Francesca Guadagna and Andrea Ipsaro Passione and for Arisme by Massimo Rizzo, Giovanna Sciuto and Domenico Quartarone.
Basile declared it yesterday: «This is a significant step for the system of municipal subsidiaries, called to play a strategic role in the provision of public services and in the growth of the city. The choice of the new Boards of Directors therefore represents the start of a new phase for the investee companies of the Municipality of Messina: different realities in terms of mission and skills, but united by the need to guarantee increasingly effective services that are closer to the needs of the community. The new governance will be called upon to face important challenges: from the management of the water service and mobility to the waste cycle, from the valorisation of public assets to the ability to support the economic and social development of the territory”.
The new governance will need a few weeks; in fact, until the formal appointment by the shareholders’ meetings, the sole directors (who submitted the letters with their resignation) will remain in office, in accordance with the provisions of the respective company statutes.
As regards the special companies Messina Social City and Arisme, the new members of the respective boards of directors, who will be appointed by union decree, were also present at the meeting with the mayor. .
