From prison to the detention center for repatriations. The police commissioner of Catanzaro ordered the detention of a foreign citizen irregularly present on the national territory, deemed dangerous for public order and safety, in respect of whom the conditions established by current legislation for the execution of the expulsion order were met.
Taking charge upon release from prison
Upon his release from prison after having served a sentence for aiding and abetting illegal immigration, the man was taken over by the Immigration Office of the police station to carry out the checks and procedures required by immigration legislation. According to what emerged from the investigations – reports the police headquarters – the foreign citizen had already come to the attention of the police forces as a smuggler, a circumstance which made it necessary to carry out an in-depth examination of his legal and administrative position.
Detention and transfer to Potenza
Following the investigation conducted by the Immigration Office, the police commissioner ordered detention pursuant to Article 6, paragraph 2, letters b), c) and d) of Legislative Decree 142 of 2015, as a measure aimed at guaranteeing the effective execution of the expulsion order and allowing the further obligations required by law, also with reference to the international protection procedure. The man was then accompanied to the Potenza CPR, where he will remain for the time necessary to complete the procedures, in view of the subsequent repatriation.
