Mayor Giusy Caminiti and her team intend to clarify some accusations made regarding services related to water and waste collection, issues also touched upon during the last municipal assembly.
They get straight to the point from Palazzo San Giovanni: «The Municipality is not in arrears either towards Sorical or Ecologia Oggi and there has never been any reduction in services». Hence the reflection: «The institutional role to which all advisors, qualified sources, are called should oblige everyone to check the statements they make».
Therefore the reconstruction provided was “without corroboration”. «The institution – explains the majority – has paid millions of euros of inherited debts and has to pay to Ecologia Oggi only the invoice for August 2026 (on 10 September paid, within the contractual terms, the month of July 2026) and to Sorical 50% of the second quarter of 2026. It was enough to ask the offices; this means exercising the function of control as a minority.”
A note then on the «lack of knowledge regarding a reduction in water supply: the so-called reductio is the only intervention applicable in the presence of arrears, according to a regulated procedure, and does not coincide with the total interruption of the supply. The Arera regulation defines “supply limitation” as a reduction in the flow of water delivered to the point of delivery. It is, therefore, a measure distinct from the suspension and deactivation of the supply which cannot be adopted arbitrarily. The procedure presupposes the existence of arrears, sending a reminder, formal formal notice of default, indication of the sums due, granting of a deadline for payment or request for installments and prior communication of the consequences of any failure to comply”.
