A serious episode of cruelty has shocked the Olivera community, where a kitten was the victim of an illegal trap. The harrowing discovery was made by a municipal employee, Francesco Molino, who, at the end of the service, as he was preparing to return, heard moans and noticed the small feline immobilized and in pain under his car, with a paw locked in the steel grip of a trap.
The public complaint came directly from the mayor, Francesco Iarrera, who harshly condemned the incident via social media channels. The mayor defined the act as a real crime, underlining the serious danger faced by the entire citizenry: a similar device, placed on public land, could in fact have seriously injured anyone, especially children. Iarrera also announced that he has already filed a formal complaint with the competent authorities to identify those responsible.
Rescue was immediate. The deputy mayor Salvuccia Saporito, together with Molino and a city councilor, took action to urgently transport him to a veterinary clinic. The kitten is fortunately safe, but the doctors were unable to avoid amputating its paw due to the trauma it sustained. The episode raised a strong wave of indignation and a firm demand for justice.
