The mayor of Cosenza, Franz Caruso, sent a message to all the components of the school world on the occasion of the start of the new 2026/2027 school year:

“Dear girls, dear boys – says Mayor Franz Caruso – with the start of the new school year, a new chapter in your growth path opens before you. Every beginning brings with it emotions, expectations and, above all, new opportunities. And it is precisely from this word that I would like to start to send you my most sincere wishes. School is not just the place where you learn disciplines and skills. It is the space where you learn to be together, to compare, to respect differences and to become aware citizens. This is why I invite you to live it as protagonists. Just look for good grades: be thirsty for knowledge, ask questions and follow your passions.”

«Studying – continued Caruso – means acquiring the tools to understand reality, choose freely and build your future. I know well, however, that not everyone starts from the same conditions and that for many of you the path can be more difficult. Cosenza is a city full of talents and energy, but it also experiences situations of hardship and fragility. Educational poverty, school dropout and inequalities are challenges that we cannot ignore. It is a responsibility that involves us all. As a municipal administration we will continue to work alongside the school institution and families, so that no one feels excluded or is forced to give up their dreams. We want an open, welcoming and inclusive school, capable of enhancing every person. My thanks go to the school directors, teachers and all the staff for their daily work and for the great educational responsibility they assume and carry out with responsibility and humanity.”

Caruso asked families to «continue to walk alongside their children, maintaining a constant dialogue with the school: educating is a shared path. And to you, girls and boys, I say above all: do not be afraid of the future. Don’t let the difficulties of the present decide what you can become tomorrow. Have the courage to dream, to test yourself and get back up after every fall. Feel an active part of the growth of our Cosenza. I, as Mayor, and the entire Administration will be at your side. Because investing in young people means investing in the Cosenza of tomorrow”. “I wish you – concludes Mayor Franz Caruso – to face this new year with enthusiasm, commitment and curiosity. Tomorrow is not something that simply awaits us: it is something we build day by day. And you are already the best part of it. Happy school year to all of you, managers, teachers, staff and your families. Good journey and good work. Cosenza believes in you.”
