The technical advice filed with the Prosecutor’s Office in Messina speaks clearly. And they all head in the same direction: no responsibility for the hospital and the suspects. Therefore, the investigation into the suspicious deaths at the Papardo hospital, of patients suffering from bacterial infections after operations carried out in the Cardiac Surgery department, which led to the sensational seizure of the department’s operating rooms by the Nas carabinieri in November 2024, is moving towards being closed. So we are almost two years away from those events.
This is the determination reached by prosecutor Alice Parialò, who after having asked for an extension of the investigations for another six months (“it is essential to continue the investigations, aimed at searching and examining further evidentiary material”), we were in October 2025, has now filed a substantial request for dismissal, for all the types of crimes hypothesized and for all the suspects, to the investigating judge Tiziana Leanza. And it will now be Judge Leanza who will decide what to do with the investigation, or whether or not to accept the request of the prosecutor Parialò.
